Summer is coming to an end I feel Autumn is in the air! The Central square contains appliquéd and broidery perse shapes in different printed fabrics, including a branching tree in a pot, leaves, flowers, hearts and birds. This is surrounded by large pieced blocks of squares which form a diagonal lattice effect, The fabrics used in the original quilt, which is held in The Quilt Museum and Gallery operated by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles in the central area, date from the 1820s, whilst the outer pieced squares frame dates from the 1840s. There is a cross stitched name and date 'I (heart shape) M March 8 1844'.
